WordGirl week 38 Item #38 (aka #40)

So apparently, I haven't been careful in reading the GoogleSheet with the numbers and items . . . because I drew #38 and it said "Work on your bucket list this week." Um . . . I already did that one. Back on the week of July 2-8, I had #39 and thought that was the bucket list one. Ugh! I'm so confused. Here's what the original sheet says:

38Work on your Bucket List this week
39Instigate something fun at your workplace (even if you work at home)
40If you can remember your dreams when you wake write them down this week

Since I have been off on my numbers, I decided to do the #40 item on dreams. (So I guess I've "caught up" on all of these now! I'll try to be more careful with my reading skills . . . )

Sunday 9/17 and Monday 9/18 - I hadn't yet pulled my slip of paper.

Tuesday 9/19 - "Super tired . . . vaguely recalled one involving a rain storm."

Wednesday 9/20 - "Had a really vivid dream w/LOTS of clear details, but didn't write it down (1 a.m. potty wake - so tired I went back to sleep). I know that I was in Nancy Sauer's classroom. I told her that I'm glad I took this school year off. I told her I needed this year off. That's all I remember."

Thursday 9/21 - "I woke up to potty lots, so had lots of dreams . . . in one, we were gangsters on a ship and people were trying to break into our room while we held the door closed. In another, there was snow blocking the driveway at my grandma's old house. In another, I was walking by a salon but not going in. Earlier in the night, I was a student at Richfield High School, except it was super huge and parts of it were out of commission. I'd rather get deep sleep than remember dreams."

Friday 9/22 - "I slept deeply and don't remember any dreams."

Saturday 9/23 - "I had a dream where I was working at a coffee shop / food place. I was making a soft serve cone and going for the perfect twist. Then I dreamed I was at Pioneer Ridge Middle School and greeting people who said they missed me. The last dream I remember (when my puppy came in the room to say good morning) was an alien invasion. The ship looked like an enormous plant spore. I was watching it travel overhead. Then a little girl raced in and we started closing the open windows and latching them. When I went to shut the door, a slender man with a weird grin was coming in. I tried to push him out, but he kept coming in. I was going to yell for the girl to help when my puppy woke me up."

This is the first of the 52 things for Triple F Double E that seems counter-productive. In the past, if I've woken from a particularly vivid dream, I might write it down or talk to my husband about it. But because sleep is so important for good health and I don't get enough of it, trying to remember and think about the dreams leads to more wakefulness. My health goal for 2017 is "Deeper rest and more energy (7+ hours / night with no more than 2 wakings)." That's more important to me than remembering dreams.

On the bright side, I did get rid of one box of papers! However, I brought two more from Louise's house. Louie fixed the shredder that I'd had trouble with, so I hope to move more quickly on remaining papers.

Also, it's not a very good shot, but here's the frame I bought with the wedding photos in it! Booya! Only took me eleven months . . . . (However, I do already have their anniversary gift. I just need to wrap it! No, it's not this picture frame; this is mine!)

WordGirl 3 weeks in 1 post . . . #23, #17, and #40

As I write this, it's already a new week (Monday, 9/18/17) and I am trying to get caught up on lots of things!

For Week 35 (August 27 - September 2), I had #23: "Do something creative this week." I'm pretty sure I didn't . . . that week. However, on Saturday, September 9, my sisters and I got together and quilted! Yay! I made my "word" for the 2017-18 schoolyear (pictured below) even though I'm not teaching this year.
I haven't sewn the letters together yet, but I made them! This is my theme for the school year. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I had also put my "One Thing" as "select and upload Morgan and Angela wedding pics." I have not yet done that (even though they got married last October!) but I did buy a frame for the photos. One step closer . . . and I may get to selecting and uploading pics after this post is written.

For the week of September 3-9, I drew #17 which says "Brush your teeth and floss every day this week - already do?  Good! a gold star for you!" Woohoo!!! Done! I can't stand the feel of icky teeth, so brushing and flossing is most definitely a part of my daily routine.

For the week of September 10-16, I drew #40 which says "Instigate something fun at your workplace (even if you work at home)." Again, this is a go! I love to have fun and I get feisty sometimes. Life is good when you have fun and stir the pot a bit!

Now I'm caught up to the current week, but I'll save it for my next post. Time to pick some wedding photos . . . . (The one below is what I used on our 2016 Christmas card. I love my family!)

WordGirl week 34 Item #2

Well, I'm slow on my blogging, but last week's 3F2E was pretty inspiring! I drew #2 - "Eat at least one salad this week." As you can see from my white board, I was successful. I made an effort to include more salads in my meals. It's so nice in the summertime when fresh veggies abound! (Plus a neighbor had made too much of the Thai peanut chicken salad and gave me a container of it . . . ) This was a really fun one. It probably helped that I spent Sunday and Monday of last week taking a road trip to Missouri to watch the eclipse with "Salad Girl," aka my sister Ann!

I set as my "One Thing" to finally unbox and set up my Juki, the sewing machine I bought in June. I got it out of the box, started reading the directions, and have the basics, but haven't yet actually sewn anything on it yet. I really, really need to get into my sewing room!

WordGirl Week 33 Item #34

So my 3F2E slip last week was #34: "Play one less hour of video / computer games this week." That was easy - I mostly only play "Words with Friends" and some 2048 on my cell phone. I'm not sure if it was an hour less . . . I'm not sure I even spend one hour each week on games in the first place. But it was definitely less than usual. (In fact, my friends on WWF are probably wondering why I haven't been playing much!)

I had made my "One Thing" about signing Titus up for Obedience School. I registered him, but found out the class had already filled. I asked if there was any chance they would let one extra pup in, but started looking around for other options. Yesterday (8/21), I got word that he will be allowed to be the 7th dog in a class for 6 . . . yay! So that's done.

There are two things listed under my "One Thing" . . . because I usually change my reminder on Sunday afternoon. But I left from church on Sunday to meet up with my sister Ann to go to Missouri so we could see the total eclipse.

She and I talked about goals and to-do lists and motivation. I had decided that I'm sick of thinking about the new sewing machine I bought back in June . . . my One Thing for this upcoming week was to get it out of the box and set it up! Wait - that's two things! So, she either thought I'd forget? Or she was trying to be helpful. I actually have many to-do lists, goals, scraps of paper, things on my mind . . . and my white board helps me to focus. For last week, mission accomplished! Less time on games and Titus signed up for obedience classes. On to a new week!

(Ann waits for a break in the clouds; I look to see if it's getting darker yet . . . from the eclipse rather than the clouds. We got to see enough of it through breaks in the clouds!)

WordGirl week 32 Item#41

For the week of August 6-12, I had #41: "Take at least one pic of loved ones this week." Since we were in the BWCA, that was super easy! We had a fantastic trip!

Here are just a few of my loved ones. Sadly, our oldest son Morgan wasn't able to go with us this year. He and his wife Angela were homebodies (but I got a photo of them at our July 22 family party). BTW - we had two groups and two permits . . . we just mixed and matched who was where when. (BWCA limit is 9 people in a group.)

Lindsay, Luke, and Charlie get along so well!

So good to get to spend time with Jeff Clark! Charlie's dad.

Mari, Klaus, and Nick out for a spin on a lake. Klaus was so well-behaved!
Stacie, Pond, and Alex had to work on their balance. This was new for Pond!

Mike, Louie, Jeff, and Charlie - looking at the fire and talking about stuff.
Louie finally humored me for a photo of the two of us before we drove away.

WordGirl week 31 Item #16

So I'm playing catchup (again) . . . I seem to have a problem with timeliness.

The week of July 30 - August 5 I had #16: "Cook one meal with fresh ingredients this week." That was super quick and easy because we cook at home most nights. I should have taken a few photos to post, but I didn't. Since this is something we do on a regular basis, I added a "One Thing" to the week: "Buy tix for a Saints game."

Easy, right? I had already decided on Wednesday, August 30th. The theme is "Princess Bride 30th anniversary" and I *love* The Princess Bride! But I finally actually purchased tickets just a few days ago. I kept waffling on whether to buy reserved seats or general admission . . . and finally went for the cheap $6 tickets. We're trying to budget and it's basically just a fun night out, so that should work for us.

I'm going to put my other 3F2E "things" in different entries.

Salad Girl gets distracted by meat sale

After two weeks of going over to Louise's house for meals, I finally got the repair man over to fix the fridge AND....for $188 he replaced the relay something or other switch.  I celebrated by going to Cub and buying lots of meat!  I got a 40 oz rack of ribs for $7 and...well you get the drift.  Louise is going to help me cook up stuff and then I will freeze it - ADDING it to the list so I can track my freezer stuff.  ANYway---a far field from greens BUT I did lunch on stuff I picked from the garden yesterday: cucumbers, radishes, parsley and a small tomato.

Gotta apply for a job so the priorities are all over the place....Get ER Done!!
